June 9, 2015 (Day 5): Storm Rest Day

The guides didn't bother getting up over night and we slept until 0700, waking up to the sound of snow hitting the tent once again.  We gathered for breakfast around 0830 and enjoyed a special treat of rice, vanilla, brown sugar.  The team repaired one of the tent poles that broke at a joint, secured all of the guy lines, and were back in our shelter just before 1100.  Most of the day was spent inside similar to yesterday.  To pass the time we tried to list as many states and capitals as we could.  I also inventoried my snack situation.  If this storm were to hold up a few days longer we would be in a serious rationing situation.  Lunch/dinner was around 1630, and we scarfed down some quesadillas with bacon and pepperjack cheese.  We waited for the weather only to hear the same forecast of more snow, with the worst potentially still to come.  I went to bed at 2030 with lots of questions about our summit window, fitness, and food situation going through my head.  Not much we could do, but wait it out and hope for the best.
